In this interactive webinar, national experts will provide an overview of the issue of human trafficking, focusing on the commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC), how CSEC is beginning to manifest itself in U.S. schools, and how homeless youth often are targeted for victimization. In addition, presenters will recommend specific steps that may be implemented in local school districts to respond to this growing issue in a responsible and effective manner.
Topics will include:
What is trafficking? How is trafficking defined under federal law? What do statistics say about how often it occurs, where it occurs, and who is involved? How is the federal government responding to trafficking?
What are the dynamics of trafficking? Who are the traffickers and what tactics do they use? Who are the trafficking victims? What are the most common victim risk factors? What does trafficking look like?
What can schools do in response to trafficking? What are the warning signs? How can schools prevent trafficking? How should schools respond to suspected incidences of trafficking?
